MATNOG, Sorsogon -- Burlington Loft made it two in a row by winning the third leg of the Philippine Homing Pigeon Association (PHA) 2012 South Series here last Feb.19.

 

Burlington Loft’s winning entry -- a blue cheque cock with “26” Burlington Line and PHA Band No. 10-1032649 -- made a speed of 1026.596 meter per minute from Matnog to Manila to capture top honors in the Old Birds category for the second straight time in this prestigious series organized by PHA president Jaime Lim.

 

Last Feb.5, Burlington Loft also dominated the same category with PHA 11-9040578 -- a pied red cheque cock with Beckert bloodline.

 

The second leg scheduled in Legaspi City last Feb. 12 was cancelled due to heavy rains.

 

Benito Go Que and his PHA-10-1023842 -- a blue cheque cock out of Old line (Kaluluwa) cross Beckaert -- finished second with a time of 1008.852 meter per minute.

 

Third place went to another Burlington Loft entry -- a blue cheque hen from the same “26” Burlington line and with PHA-11-9040555 and a speed of 993.344 meter per minute.

 

The other notable finishers in the Old Birds category are Alberto Lim, fourth place, Johnny Ngo Tian See, fifth; Benito Go Que, sixth; Burlington Loft, seventh; Harry Sy, eighth; John Joriz, ninth; and Benito Go Que, 10th.

 

Sharing the limelight is Jonathan & Ian, who topped the Young Birds category with a blue cheque cock out of Colson cross Colson and Jos Van Den Broucke bloodline and PHA PHA-11-9016386 and a speed of 1007.766 meter per minute.

 

Benito Go Que swept the second and third places.

 

Go Que’s pied pencil cock out of Benito Lee’s line cross Vicente Ngo’s line and PHA-11-9018181 finished second with a speed of 985.912 meter per minute.

 

His pied blue bar hen with Old line cross Jos Van Den Broucke bloodline and PHA 11-9012178 wound up third with a speed of 980.451 meter per minute.

 

Also making it in the Young Birds category are Jose Torres, Tommy So, Victor Tan, Alberto Lim, Benito Go Que and Jimmy Tee.

 

PHA racing chairman Nelson Chua said a total of 48 birds out of 735 entries from 53 lofts in the Old Birds category; and 96 birds out of 1697 entries from 81 lofts in the Young Birds category were clocked during the approximately 400-kilometer air distance.

 

The fourth lap was held in Allen, Samar last Feb. 26.

 

Also in the busy PHA schedule are fifth lap in Catbalogan, Samar ( March 4-5); sixth lap in Sariaya (March 11); seventh lap in Tacloban, Leyte (March 17-18) and eighth lap in McArthur, Leyte (March 24-25).

ALLEN, Samar -- Benito Go Que completed a rare double celebration when he ruled both the Young Birds and Old Birds categories in the fourth lap of the Philippine Homing Pigeon Association (PHA) 2012 South Series here last Feb. 26.

 

Que’s blue cheque cock out of Old line cross Beckaert with PHA band no. 11-9016106 topped the young birds category with a speed of 1137.56 meter per minute.

 

Another Go Que entry, a pied blue bar cock with Old line cross Jos Van Den Broucke bloodline and PHA 11- 9016078, clinched second place with a speed of 1136.32 meter per minute.

 

Third place went to Francis Santos and his blue cheque cock out of Emiel Deweerdt cross Andre Leitan and PHA 11- 9015403.

 

Competing the Top 10 finishers in the Young Birds category are Jose Torres, fourth place; Benito Go Que, fifth; Benito Go Que, sixth; Apao Loft, seventh; Rey So, eighth; Luis Chiu, ninth; and Victor Tan, 10th.

 

In the Old Birds category, Go Que’s dark cheque cock out of Jaime Chua’s line cross Old line and PHA 10-1023885 clinched top spot with a speed of 1133.72 meter per minute.

 

Paul Ung and Luis Chiu finished second and third, respectively.

The other top finishers in the Old Birds class are Paquito Ngo, fourth; Benito Go Que, fifth; Benito Go Que, sixth; Paul Ung, seventh; Christopher Ng, eighth; Burlington Loft, ninth; and Benito Go Que, 10th.

 

PHA president Jaime Lim said a total of 107 out of 312 birds from 70 lofts were clocked in the Young Birds category were clocked during the approximately 440-kilometer air distance.

 

In the Old Birds category, a total of 50 out of 178 birds from 70 lofts were clocked.

 

PHA racing chairman Nelson Chua said the fifth lap were held in Catbalogan, Samar last March 4-5.

 

Also in the busy PHA schedule are sixth lap in Sariaya (March 11); seventh lap in Tacloban, Leyte (March 17-18) and eighth lap in McArthur, Leyte (March 24-25).

 

Last Feb. 5, Romeo Liwag and Burlington Loft split top honors in the opening lap held in Naga City.

 

Liwag’s blue bar cock with band no. PHA 11-9019255 of Jos Thone cross Desmet Mathy topped the YoungBirds category, while Burlington Loft’s pied red cheque cock with Beckert bloodline and PHA 11-9040578 ruled the Old Birds class.

CATBALOGAN, Samar -- Rey So topped the Young Birds category, while Luis Chiu ruled the Old Birds class during the fifth lap of the Philippine Homing Pigeon Association (PHA) 2012 South Series here last March 5.

So took the spotlight with his PHA 11-9018163 -- a blue bar hen out of E. Devos cross R. Florizone bloodline -- which made a speed of 1131.41 meter per minute.

Fourth lap double winner Benito Go Que took the next two places with his entries -- a blue cheque cock out of Old Line cross Beckaert bloodline and PHA 11-9016106 (1127.92 speed) and a blue bar hen out of Pure Old Line and PHA 11-9016088 ( 1127.9 speed).

Completing the Top 10 finishers are Paquito Ngo, fourth; Millennium Loft, fifth; Ezekiel Lunar, sixth; Anson Ong, seventh; Glenn Sy, eighth; Alberto Lim, ninth; and Emmanuel Loft, 10th.

In the Old Birds class, Chiu’s PHA 11-9045594 -- a blue cheque cock out of Jos Van Den Broucke cross Jan Aarden -- shone with a speed of 1133.7 meter pe r minute.

Paul Ung finished second with his PHA 11-9033128 -- blue cheque hen out of Nouwen-Paesen bloodline -- which made a speed of 1126.88 meter per minute.

Go Que clinched third place with PHA 11-9041795 -- a blue bar hen out of Pure Old Line -- which made a speed of 1113.3 meter per minuite.

The other top finishers in the Old Birds category are Go Que, Arturo Sia, Paquito Ngo, Paul Ung, Emmaneul Go, Luis Chiu and Burlington Loft.

PHA president Jaime Lim said 46 out of 153 young birds from 56 lofts and 24 out of 87 old birds from 32 lofts were clocked during the 500-kilometer race from Catbalogan.

PHA racing chairman Nelson Chua said the busy PHA season will continue in Tacloban, Leyte (March 17-18).

TACLOBAN City -- Alberto Lim emerged as the biggest winner during the sixth lap of the Philippine Homing Pigeon Association (PHA) 2012 South Series here last March 18.

Lim’s entry -- a blue bar hen out of Nowen Passan cross Jos Thone bloodline with PHA 11-9015200 -- topped the Young Birds category with a speed of 918.06 meter per minute.

Millennium Loft and Benito Go Que finished second and third, respectively.

Millennium Loft’s blue bar cock out of F4 line cross Mercx 019 Keizer Janssen cross Ganus bloodline and PHA 11-9015200 finished second overall with a speed of 888.42 meter per minute, while Que’s blue bar hen out of old line cross Joseph Van Den Broucke bloodline with PHA 11-9016079 wound up third with a speed of 882.28 meter per minute.

John Joriz finished fourth overall, followed by Ferdinand Chua, fifth; and Rey So, sixth.

In the Old Birds series, Que won over Lim and Harry Sy to clinch top honors.

Que’s pied blue cheque hen out of old line cross Joseph Van Den Broucke bloodline and PHA 11-9034073 made a speed of 916.66 meter per minute to top the event.

Lim’s blue cheque hen out of Nowen Passan cross Taiwan Line and PHA 11-9041411 took runner-up honors with a speed of 895.84 meter per minute.

Third place went to Sy and his blue cheque hen out of Carlos Pratts cross Joseph Van Den Broucke and PHA 11-9038060.

PHA president Jaime Lim said a total of six birds out of 73 young birds from 31 lofts and six birds out of 22 old birds from 22 lofts were clocked during the approximately 560-kilometer air distance race.

The birds were released at 6:15 p.m. last March 18, according to PHA racing chairman Nelson Chua.

Meanwhile, the first PHA-McArthur National Race, widely considered as the most prestigious racing pigeon long distance race, will get underway on March 24-25 in McArthur, Leyte.

“The first PHA-McArthur National Race is named as the Peter Yap Cup in memory of one of the PHA founders, Mr. Peter Yap,” said Lim.

THE first PHA-McArthur National Race, widely considered as the most prestigious racing pigeon long distance race, reels off on March 24-25 at McArthur, Leyte.

 

“The first PHA-McArthur National Race is named as the Peter Yap Cup in memory of one of the PHA founders, Mr. Peter Yap. This McArthur National Race is his brainchild and we are proud to bring it to fruition,” said PHA president Jimi Lim.

 

It is comprised of 14 clubs namely: M.V.P.A. - Mabuhay Valenzuela Pigeon Association, P.S.U. - Pigeon Sport Unlimited, U.P.S. - United Pigeon Society, U.B.S. – United Bagong Silang Racing Pigeon Inc., Q.R.P.C. – Quezon City Racing Pigeon Club, E.P.F.C. – Eastern Pigeon Fanciers Club, N.F.P.F. – National Federation of Pigeon Fanciers, P.P.B.C.- Philippine Pigeon Breeders Club, S.R.P.C. - Santolan Racing Pigeon Club, SUPRA- Sta. Maria Unified Pigeon Racing Association, P.R.P.U. – Philippine Racing Pigeon Union, M.M.F.C. - Metro Manila Fancier Club, C.R.P.A. – Cavite Racing Pigeon Association, P.H.A. – Philippine Homing Pigeon Association, Inc.

 

A total of 7437 bands are being distributed to enter into this first-ever national race in the Philippines.

 

A total of 605 birds were entered and only 573 birds qualified.

 

All racing pigeon fanciers who are interested to join the 2013 McArthur National Race may start getting their bands from their respective mother clubs.

 

MCARTHUR, Leyte -- Arthur Sunga of SUPRA emerged as the undisputed champion in the first Philippine Homing Pigeon Association (PHA)- McArthur National Race Peter Yap Cup held here last March 25.

 

Sunga’s winning entry -- a blue bar cock out of TAIWAN cross Janssen line bloodline with PHA 11-9029608 -- made a speed of 722.84 meter per minute to capture top honors in the prestigious, one-day event held in honor of Peter Yap.

 

Luis Chiu of PHA and Arvie Victorino of SRPC finished second and third, respectively.

 

Chiu’s blue cheque cock out of Van Den Broucke and Jan Aarden bloodline with PHA 11-9025908 clinched runner-up honors with a speed of 718.27 meter per minute.

 

Victorino’s blue cheque white cock out of Lix Ang bloodline and PHA 11-9044093 came in third with a speed of 641.38 meter per minute.

 

Fourth place went to Aris Alcantara of SUPRA and his blue bar hen out of Janssen cross Taiwan bloodline and PHA 11-9029765, which made a speed of 641.38 meter per minute.

 

In fifth place was Ricson Asilum of PHA and his pencil cock out of De Buijn bloodline with PHA 11-9025793, which made a speed of 641.38 meter per minute.

 

The other notable finishers were Benito Go Que of PHA and his blue bar hen out of pure old line and PHA 11-9026388 with a speed of 641.38 meter per minute, sixth place; and Joel Co of MVPA and his black cheque hen out of Beckaert and Andre Lietar cross Jose Torres bloodline and PHA 11-9026866 with a speed of 641.38 meter per minute, seventh.

 

PHA president Jaime Lim said a total of seven birds out of 534 birds from 251 lofts were clocked.

 

The birds were released at about 6:15 a.m. for the approximately 720 kilometers air distance.

 

Nelson Chua served as the racing chairman.

 

Meanwhile, Ricson Asilum and his PHA Band No. 11-9018106 topped the McArthur, Leyte leg of the PHA also held last March 25.

 

Asilum’s pencil cock out of De Bruijin line made a speed of 574.87 meters to emerge as the lone qualifier out of 19 birds from 12 lofts to the PHA McArthur race.
